Well, whatever. I'll compile them will all those defines. But I don't want
them linked against libavl, or whatever else configure found. Can I create
a separate configure script for this direcotry, and instruct the root
configure to treat it as an independent sub-directory? I think a similar
thing is done in The GIMP in building the Gimp-Perl extension. Maybe I
should take a look.

And what is it exactly? A plain text file? A shell script? Can the
configure script create it on the fly?

BTW, another known issue in the current AC/AM/LT configuration is that the
parameters of the "configure" script all start with "--enable". I.e: to set
the maximal number of Freecells to 8 one uses
"./configure --enable-max-num-freecells=8".
I would like it to be something like "./configure --max-num-freecells=8",
but I don't know how to tell autoconf to recognize such an option.
