I believe Adrian and I have already corresponded for over a hundred
messages, but we have still some road to cover before a full integration.
Due to the introduction of Soft-Threads, my expectations from a proper
integration has been raised a bit to include various themes of
configuration.
The Freecell Solver API can accept a virtual command line that can be used
to configure it. Adrian had some problems integrating this mechanism into
this code and I had to help him a bit.
Another problematic factor is the fact that Freecell Solver does not
adhere to MS-Freecell compatible move. Adrian implemented some support for
such moves into FC-Pro, but there is still a minor problem that so far had
been encountered in only one board with only one configuration of FCS.
We'll probably be able to resolve it sooner or later.
Adrian's plans to make Freecell Pro Open-Source will probably materialize
for the its next "stable" release. I spoked with him a little about the
licensing issues, and he asserted that he understands the GPL, accepts its
terms, and so would like to use it as a license for Freecell Pro. He said
there should not be a problem with the Don Woods' solver in regard the
the GPL restrictions against linking with other code.
Getting the FCS integration off our back, will hopefully enable Adrian to
work on other aspects of improving FC-Pro, like the cognitive ones that
Bob Gorman suggested.
