Don (if I may call you that),
We think we won't try to debug the Win 98 problems running
our FreeCell program, but I would like to have it working OK
on all the current platforms, if possible.
To that end, I would mention that it needs a file called
cards.dll
to be present in the same directory as
FCELL.COM & FFA.exe & FFAHelp.htm
If these files are present, we have found that it runs OK on
Vista, so if your experience is different, I would like to get
the details so that we can address them. Likewise, for the
other versions of the OS. Could you be sure the files are
there? It shouldn't matter how deep the directories are
(assuming they aren't many dozens of levels deep). I don't
know if the unpacking software that I've used contributes
to the problem, or not. As a last resort, I could put links
on my download page that would enable you to download
the four files individually (possibly having to rename them)
and go from there. We should be able to isolate the
problem, if you are willing to give it a try. The first thing
would be to verify that all the pieces appear to be in your
directory when you activate FFA and tell me exactly what
goes wrong ("blows up" isn't quite descriptive enough).
Also, the exact name of the OS, the hardware, and the
size of main memory are factors we need to know.
Thanks,
-Gary
