Hi all,
As I previously told here:
http://tech.groups.yahoo.com/group/fc-solve-discuss/message/1040
I've intended to add multi-flaring capabilities - i.e: running several
alternative solutions one after the other and then picking up the solution
with the shortest solutions.
Recently on the trunk I started adding this functionality into the Freecell
Solver core at the level of lib.c. I've noticed I've become very methodical
and split the changes into several commits, each one passing the entire test
suite. If it was back in the early 2.x.y years or earlier, I would just
brutally modify the codebase and then spend many fun hours in gdb (= the GNU
debugger) trying to debug silly mistakes that result in crashes.
In any case, the flare feature is not implemented yet, but a lot of the
foundation is there, and I'm planning to work on it, when I'm not getting
distracted by something else. After that, I need to implement some ideas I
have for constructing a flare-based meta-scan that will yield good results,
while not being as slow as the previous attempt described in the E-mail.
Regards,
Shlomi Fish

God considered inflicting XSLT as the tenth plague of Egypt, but then
decided against it because he thought it would be too evil.
