Thanks to Shlomi and Gary for helping me solve the "jibberish" problem.
Shlomi: I switched my browser to use Unicode UTF-8 encoding and was able to read previous messages of yours and Gary's that had given me problems.
Gary: Your latest message reads okay in Unicode UTF-8, but it still has jibberish when my browser is set for Western ISO-8859-1.
