Hi all,
Starting from yesterday, I ran my All-in-a-Row solver (see
http://bitbucket.org/shlomif/black-hole-solitaire ) on the first 1,000,000
(one million) PySol FC All-in-a-Row deals, and today I processed the
statistics. Here are the results:
$ perl ~/stdev.pl Impossible
n is 329324, min is 16, max is 13964669
mode is 94 _at_ 386, median is 192.5, mean is 243246, stdev is 514088
$ perl ~/stdev.pl Solved_checked
n is 670676, min is 55, max is 17726078
mode is 490 _at_ 41, median is 677782, mean is 123659, stdev is 229507
$ perl ~/stdev.pl Solved_generated
n is 670676, min is 98, max is 17726105
mode is 265 _at_ 40, median is 677824, mean is 123697, stdev is 229506
It seems like somewhat less than a third of the deals are impossible, and that
the median and mean of the number of states in both impossibles and solved are
high.
For the equivalent Black Hole statistics, see:
http://tech.groups.yahoo.com/group/fc-solve-discuss/message/1068
This time, I ran all the solving locally, with some help from GNU parallel (
http://www.gnu.org/software/parallel/ ;
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GNU_parallel ) and some custom programs.
Regards,
Shlomi Fish

then I remember — because they are so pedantic.
