Hi all,
I have recently played with the micro-finance-improved preset which is a hack
on the new "-l micro-finance" preset only with the flags «-sp r:tf
-opt -opt-to "0123456789ABCDE"» added to all the individual flares. Comparing
it to -l micro-finance yielded these statistics summaries with respects to the
number of moves:
«
shlomif[fcs]:$trunk/fc-solve/B$ cat \
~/Arcs/fc-solve/micro-finance.fc-pro-dump.txt | perl -lane 'print $1 if /^\[\[Num FCPro Moves\]\]=(\d+)$/' | stdev
n is 31999, min is 23, max is 180
mode is 58 _at_ 1437, median is 51, mean is 60.0298, stdev is 9.52828
shlomif[fcs]:$trunk/fc-solve/B$ cat micro-finance-improved.fc-pro-dump.txt |
perl -lane 'print $1 if /^\[\[Num FCPro Moves\]\]=(\d+)$/' | stdev
n is 31999, min is 23, max is 175
mode is 57 _at_ 1476, median is 50, mean is 56.8768, stdev is 9.2316
»
So the maximum is 5 lower, the mode is lower by 1 (and there are more values
like that), the median is lower by 1, the mean is lower by more than 3, and the
standard deviation is lower as well.
So it seems like a small improvement and was not a lot of work. In the trunk,
you can invoke it using "-l micro-finance-improved" or "-l mfi" for short.
Regards,
Shlomi Fish
